The Issue Between Deron Williams and Jerry Sloan: Sideburns

February 27, 2011 5 comments

At first, I just thought it was a bowlcut.

The NBA trade deadline was last Thursday and there were so many players, future draft picks and money moving between teams that I don’t even want to attempt to analyze who the winners and losers were. But there was one move that happened just before deadline that really made me think. The trade between the Utah Jazz and the New Jersey Nets raises question; “did the tension between Deron Williams and Jerry Sloan push both of them away from the Jazz?”. Whenever I think about Deron Williams, a different question comes to my mind; “where are Deron William’s sideburns?”. After doing a little bit of research, I think the two questions are more interrelated than anyone has previously considered, and the answer to the second question may help us answer the first one. Edmonton Oilers 2011 Trade Deadline, Hemsky And Penner

Hemsky Breaking Through The San Jose Defense

I have always loved Hemsky for his ability to dangle around any defender he wants, and his ability to make even the crappiest players *cough* Shawn Horcoff *cough* look like actual NHL players. He can bring your team back from any deficit, most famously in game 6 of the ’06 playoffs vs Detroit when he scored 2 goals along with playoff hero Fernando Pisani to come back from 3-0, win the game, and clinch the series. He is also one of the best passers in the game, making him a key player on the Oilers. But that’s when he is healthy. He has never played a full 82 game season with his shortest season coming last year when he missed 60 games. Its no wonder the Oilers were so terrible with their best player only playing 22 games. In those 22 games he had 22 points. Read more…

Tired of Carmelo

I really hope he goes somewhere soon because I don’t think this much time should be wasted talking about a player who isn’t worth the hype. That being said, I really hope he doesn’t go to the New York Knicks (his preferred destination), for a few reasons. One, I don’t think Melo is that good, isn’t a defensive guy, and won’t work with Amar’e Stoudemire. Second, everyone talks about NY so much I would rather have them be decent then the joke of a team they have been in the last few years. It is nice to have all the big market teams (NY, LA, Chicago, Boston) in the mix Read more…
